The types of mobility available at IHECS
Throughout their studies at IHECS, students have the opportunity to study or undertake professional training abroad.
Course-based mobility
During the Bachelor’s degree
At IHECS, university exchanges are possible in the 3rd year and take place during the first semester. We have more than a hundred partners around the world.
An exchange requires long-term preparation: the process begins in the 2nd year. Applications take place at the end of February, and destinations are allocated based on a ranking system. Students are informed about the procedures during various information sessions.
During the Master’s degree
For several years now, the International Office has been developing specific mobility options for Master’s students. Places are limited, but the opportunity is exceptional.
Available partnerships*:
- Master MACCS: Trois-Rivières, Canada – mobility during the first semester.
- Master Presse-Info: Aarhus, Denmark – mobility during the second semester, replaces the final-year internship.
- Master Public Relations: Volda, Norway – mobility during the second semester, replaces the final-year internship.
*Selection based on an application file.
Funding
Students participating in course-based mobility may receive financial support. The amount depends on the destination, the duration of the exchange, and the funding available each year.
For destinations within the European Union, an additional “sustainable transport” allowance is granted to students who choose an eco-friendly means of transportation.
Going on an Erasmus exchange represents a significant financial and administrative investment. The grant does not cover the full cost of mobility. We remind students that exchanges are not mandatory and that the decision to go abroad lies solely with the student.
Students with fewer opportunities (AMO) receive a higher grant. Eligibility criteria are detailed in official documents and during information sessions.

Internship mobility
Internship abroad during the Master’s degree
At the end of their Master’s studies at IHECS, students must complete an internship. It is possible to carry out this internship abroad.
The International Office does not handle internship placement searches but does offer financial support.
The internship must be completed during the second semester of the 2nd year of the Master’s programme, for a minimum duration of 2 months (60 days).
Additional information will be provided to the students concerned during their first year of the Master’s programme at IHECS.
Internship abroad after the Master’s degree
The Erasmus+ programme and IHECS allow newly graduated students to benefit from an Erasmus+ grant and adapted statuses for an internship completed in Europe immediately after graduation. This offers a transition period between the end of studies and the search for employment. Applications must therefore be submitted before graduation.
The grant is provided for internships carried out in Europe (excluding Belgium), within a single company or organisation, for a duration of 60 to 90 days.
These internship searches are not managed by the IHECS International Office. The Erasmus Agency offers a dedicated page for internship opportunities across various fields: ERASMUSINTERN (erasmusintern.org)
Additional information will be provided to the students concerned during their final Master’s year at IHECS.

MOBILITY OPPORTUNITIES FOR TEACHERS AND STAFF MEMBERS
Thanks to the Erasmus+ programme, teachers and staff members also have the opportunity to take part in mobility activities. Three types of mobility are available to anyone with a contract of more than half-time at IHECS:
- Teaching mobility: teaching at a partner institution with which we have bilateral Erasmus+ agreements.
- Training mobility: receiving training at a European organisation or carrying out a job-shadowing mission to observe good practices (or a combination of both).
- Hosting a European expert to contribute to a course or workshop.
Teachers or staff members are responsible for finding the training that interests them, the expert they wish to invite, or the partner institution where they wish to teach (the International Office can, of course, help facilitate these contacts).
Funding
These mobility activities are covered (partially or fully) by a grant from the European Commission.
Please note: the Erasmus+ budget does not cover training registration fees.

Institutional framework of mobility
It is within the framework of the Erasmus+ programme that the European Commission supports mobility within the thirty or so participating countries.
The Agence nationale belge francophone (AEF) centralises the funding of Erasmus+, Belgica and FAME(S) mobilities. IHECS manages all mobilities for students, teachers and staff members in accordance with the rules set by the Commission and the AEF.
Through the Haute École Galilée, IHECS holds the Erasmus+ Charter 2021–2027, which is both a recognition of quality and a commitment to respecting the fundamental principles of Erasmus mobility:
-
-
- mobility can only take place within the framework of agreements concluded beforehand between higher education institutions;
- students pay their tuition fees at their home institution and are exempt from such fees at the host institution;
- the courses listed in the learning agreements and successfully completed are fully recognised academically.
-
IHECS also commits to:
-
-
- ensuring a very high level of quality, particularly in the implementation of mobility;
- ensuring equal academic treatment between local students and mobility students;
- respecting non-discrimination objectives.
-
Within the Erasmus+ programme, academic recognition is guaranteed through the ECTS system (European Credit Transfer System). By adhering to the Erasmus University Charter, IHECS has committed to managing mobility in accordance with ECTS methodology.
This commitment entails a series of rights and responsibilities for students.
